Born and raised in Meriden, CT, Benjamin “Dutch The Dreamer” Grenier is a millennial creative that embodies a hip-hop alternative sound.
Growing up in a family dynamic that constantly faced obstacles, Dutch often found himself seeking solace in music that resonated with his adversity. With an activist-mom who advocates for making every statement count and an extremely hardworking father, Dutch’s artistry prioritizes various life perspectives and encourages listeners to see the bigger picture. Inspired by the likes of Kid Cudi, Pink Floyd, Wiz Khalifa, Jimi Hendrix and Snoop Dogg--at 18 years old--Dutch acted on the lingering hunger to tell his own story.
In 2012, Dutch officially began his artistic trajectory and dedicated time to developing vocal flows, producing music and growing a talented network. Grinding in a world of adventure and creativity, he debuted a 14-track project entitled, Insomnia (2014)—which featured his first radio-acclaimed single, “Good Weather.”
Since then, the aura-vigilant rapper continued to strengthen his imprint by performing around the United States and releasing tracks like “Lights In My Head” (2015) and “LSDaydreams” (2016).
In September of 2017, Dutch released his debut album, Aquarium, which included the well-received single "Red Eye" and a mini-documentary that depicted his creative process and life as a Meriden-bred artist. The album buzz garnered him print, digital and broadcast media hits, as well as performances on Spocka Summa's THE JAM and Action Bronson's Blue Chips 7000 Tour stop in Connecticut.
Candid about his experiences with substance abuse, depression, emotions and heartbreak, Dutch utilizes his music to portray the multi-dimensional realities of the masses. He hopes Aquarium and his future projects solidifies an authentic connection with his supporters and establishes an influential legacy.
